Awesomeness of God, Divine Love

Everything that is belongs to God[1]. He created it[2]; for a purpose[3], and that purpose will be accomplished[4]. Before the first electron appeared, the whole plan was determined[5] and has been developing down God’s exact time table, to this exact moment, and will continue developing until the last moment of its fulfillment[6].

The Creator’s intelligence is infinitely beyond our ability to even catch a hint of[7]. Our finite intelligence boggles when we try to encapsulate God. Man’s pride just cannot accept an intelligence that so eclipses his own. To say that God is astonishing doesn’t capture the reality. We cannot think or even imagine the extent of God. All we can do is accept the unfathomable as being something so far beyond us that we cannot even grasp it. It would be far easier to see Japan from San Francisco’s Cliff House than to grasp the fullness of God. You can look, but you will never ever see it. It would be infinitely easier to see the entire universe inside your human eyeball than to see the fullness of God, for the universe is only a small portion of God.

It has been said that our human brains, with their billions upon billions of neurons, each with thousands of possible inner connections, is the most complicated object in the known universe, and yet the Creator created it, and formed it, out of little bits of energy that he brought into existence billions of years before the first human brain was formed. That brain was exactly planned before the universe even began[8].

Before it becomes possible to catch even a glimpse of God, you must humble yourself and accept on some level what I have been saying. The finite cannot grasp the infinite. What we can do is open our hearts and allow what has been revealed to fill us with awe. If you do not open your heart to receive the revealed God, then God will remain on the outside of you and you will not gain the understanding needed to know him. God has given this right for you to choose him, or not.

The reason the Bible is holy is because little bits of God are revealed inside. The reason Jesus Christ is holy is because he is the image of the invisible God. It is God that makes the Bible holy. It is God that makes Jesus Christ holy and it is God that makes you holy, if God lives within you[9]. It is God that gives the universe meaning. It is God that gives you meaning. Without God there is nothing, and there would be no you.

As I look out into the world, I am grieved. I am grieved to my very core because I don’t see many people that understand even a little of what I have been trying to explain. Every time I hear the Lord’s name used in vain, I grieve. The idea that writers of entertainment use Jesus’ name so disrespectfully, and that the actors repeat such disrespect, causes pain within me. The idea that one human can so disrespect another human, and call another person by the “n” word grieves me to no end (or any other derogatory name), but what is that when compared to disrespecting Jesus Christ?

The greatest prophet of all time[10] told us that he was unworthy of even untying Jesus’ sandals[11]. It was this recognition of Jesus that made John the greatest. It is the lack of true understanding that holds people back from truly knowing who God really is. Every time I hear the Holy Scriptures disrespected, I grieve to my bones. I grieve the loss of any and every one that is lost. I hate that I cannot convey to others what I see and know. I try to put thoughts into words and despise myself because I cannot do it as well as my heart desires to. Every once in a while, I get through to someone and spark their interest, and this becomes the greatest of jewels in my heart. Such an experience validates my life in my own eyes. I think to myself that no matter what, at least I did this. The light of the Gospel has at least shined bright enough that someone could see God in me.

If you do not understand, at least a little, then there is no hope of you being saved from eternal death. Life exists only in God and so God the Father is everything to us. What do you have that is more important than life? Without life, what would you have? Life is everything, and it only exists in God, because God IS. God is life.

I am not talking about biological life here, but some truth can be seen through biological life. That is why God designed the world the way he did. God designed the world so that even though you are dead, you can still see life. He did this so that you can choose life over death. God created the world so that the angels could see and understand what death is as well.

Deuteronomy 30:11–20
Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.

15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (NIV84)

I have mentioned the unfathomable greatness of God so that you might listen to him. He has demonstrated his intelligence and power through which he has made[12] so that you might listen to him. If Albert Einstein were to correct your math, would you not listen? How much greater is God? When God reveals truth to you, it is the greatest prize that you can ever receive.

I have been mentioning the awesome intelligence and unimaginable power he has, but there is another pillar of God that is even more remarkable to me, and that is that God is good. There is no one else that is actually and truly good, only God. Not even Jesus Christ qualifies[13], only God.

1 John 4:16
God is love (NIV84)

1 Corinthians 13:4–7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (NIV84)

Do you know that God is patient and kind? That he does not envy, nor does he boast, and he is not proud? That God is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, nor keeps any record of wrongs? That God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth? That he always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres? If this is not your personal gut understanding of the nature of God, then, sadly, you do not know him. He is good. Only God is good.

If God abides within you, then the fruit of his nature will flow out of you.

Galatians 5:22–23
But the fruit of the Spirit [of God] is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. (NIV84)

Choose the selfless and good God of love and kindness, lest you remain under the cruel thumb of selfish sin. Choose life, so that you do not remain in death in the afterlife. God has established a path of reconciliation, and that path is in Jesus Christ. Be united with Jesus Christ in God.
